The Living out Faith website provides lessons for RE, which incorporate the experiences, cultures and histories of black communities into teaching about aspects of the Christian faith. The material on this site grew out of Growing into Hope, two volumes of Christian Education material for multi-ethnic churches, teaching the Christian faith to predominantly black children and young people. This original material has now been adapted and developed for a non-confessional, school context.
Our aim is to contribute to a much more diverse depiction of Christianity. The inclusion of historical and cultural experiences of black communities provides young people with an alternative way into exploring themes around the Christian faith. We also hope that the use of stories, activities and sketches helps to make the learning process more interesting.
We aim to continually develop the site, by adapting and adding to the existing content. In order to help us do that, we need your feedback. Which sections have you used? What did you like about them? Was there anything you had difficulties with or would do differently? How have people responded to the content? We are interested in hearing your views.

*Changes to the Website* As you can see, we are no longer called 'The Cream Project' but have changed our name to better reflect what our website is about. We are now called 'Living out Faith', illustrating our concern to show how faith is something reflected in the ways people live their lives, not just a set of abstract ideas.
This is most obviously illustrated by Faith Stories found in our Biography section. Della, Marcus, William and Martha share their stories with us, talking about different aspects of their faith. (This section is most suitable for KS3 upwards)
'Freedom is for Freeing'
2007 marks the bicentenary of the passing of the Act to Abolish the Slave Trade in British Parliament in March 1807.
Here at the project we have produced a resource that looks at the role of Christianity from two perspectives: that of the slaveowners and the enslaved, where the Christian faith was used both as a source of oppression and as a source of hope and liberation
The resource includes points for reflection and discussion as well as links to other resources and information. To access the resource, click on the purple 'Freedom' button at the top of the page. This section is most suitable for KS3 upwards (11years plus)
